Good Times for All at CCS Spring Trial 2026

It’s hard to say who had the most fun at CCS Spring Trial 2026: the dogs and their handlers, the spectators, or the judge!

Saturday dawned sunny and warm. The first competitors to arrive won the trial’s High In Miles awards: Elaine Coupe and Darlene Jordan drove in from Tennessee and Mississippi respectively!

General briefing began promptly at 8:45 and concluded with Trial Chair Betsie Bolger presenting Judge Kenneth Boyd with a Spring boutonnière in the club colors. Then Ken convened his Combined Gamblers briefing, and soon it was time for the games to begin!

Much to the delight of club members, more than a dozen spectators turned out to enjoy the festivities, including a sizable contingent from the Dog Training Club of Dallas County along with USDAA’s own Taylor Beers.

Saturday concluded with the presentation of two Judge’s Choice Awards chosen by Ken Boyd, who recently judged the 2026 AKC National Agility Championship and also judged USDAA’s 2025 Cynosport World Games.

Susie Maxey and Fire caught his eye in the Starters/Advanced category; Jody Faulkner and Brio got the nod in Masters.

A highlight towards the end of the day on Sunday was back-to-back milestones achieved by two longtime friends and their small dogs: Ronda Dillard and her Corgi Reba earned their first ADCH (Agility Dog Championship), while Betsie Bolger and her mixed breed rescue, Coco, finished their last two Veterans titles, in Standard and Gamblers. Kudos and congrats to both of these winning teams!

Melissa Sheehan of True Colors Photography was on hand to capture the memories in midair. Newly recruited volunteer Carlos Mota particularly appreciated the workers snacks and lunchtime pizza delivery! Meanwhile, CCS stalwart Julie Stanek held the fort at the in-gate both days.

Next up on Center for Canine Sports’ events calendar is CCS Morning Trial, coming up Saturday-Sunday, June 6-7, 2026. Entries close May 27. Spectators are welcome, but please leave your dog(s) at home.🐾👣

Betsie Bolger

Betsie Bolger and Coco took their first agility lessons at Center for Canine Sports in 2016, “just for fun”. When head trainer Lisa Jarvis invited the fledgling duo to enter a trial at CCS, Betsie discovered just how much fun competing in agility can be! She currently runs 4 dogs — all small rescues — and is starting to train a 5th. In 2024, Betsie was inducted into USDAA’s Hall of Fame as Volunteer of the Year. When not running agility, she is a writer and editor and also co-owns an eBay store with her husband, Jon.
