Foundations of Agility classmates at Center for Canine Sports

Now that Texas’ triple-digit heat has broken and the dog days of summer are behind us, it’s Foundations of Agility time at Center for Canine Sports! An eager quintet of newcomers to agility — from pawsome puppies to athletic adults — are meeting up at 6pm on Wednesday evenings to learn the basics of the sport from trainer Brooke Ortale.

 

From target work and shaping over poles on the ground to tackling the task of teaching two-on, two-off contacts, these students and their canine partners are taking the first steps in their agility journey together. We welcome them to CCS and wish them all the best plus lots of fun with their dogs!

Betsie Bolger and Coco took their first agility lessons at Center for Canine Sports in 2016, “just for fun”. When head trainer Lisa Jarvis invited the fledgling duo to enter a trial at CCS, Betsie discovered just how much fun competing in agility can be! She currently runs 4 dogs — all small rescues — and is starting to train a 5th. In 2024, Betsie was inducted into USDAA’s Hall of Fame as Volunteer of the Year. When not running agility, she is a writer and editor and also co-owns an eBay store with her husband, Jon.
